Here's a question worth sitting with: if high-potential students are among the most capable learners in any classroom, why do 60% of them underachieve relative to their potential?
Research points to five factors that consistently make the difference: acceleration, complexity, engagement, mentorship, and feedback. Brain Power Enrichment Programs was built around all five.
For over 30 years, Brain Power has designed after-school and weekend programs for high-potential students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Delivered through a leveled curriculum system across all three programs, Brain Power's classes are taught in small, age-matched cohorts by PhD and expert instructors who bring university-level curiosity into every class. Families may enroll their child in one program or all three, depending on where their child's interests and ambitions lie.
Math and Problem Solving
Brain Power's Math and Problem Solving program treats mathematics as a way of thinking, not a sequence of procedures to memorize. Students are placed in leveled cohorts matched to their ability, not just their age, and work through multiple solution pathways for every problem, exploring the logic behind why an answer works, not just whether it is correct. Brain Power uses a spiral learning approach, revisiting concepts across levels to deepen understanding rather than simply moving on. Brain Power's approach produces results: alumni include PhD scientists, mathematics researchers, and national and international math contest award winners. That track record reflects a simple conviction: flexible reasoning, not rote repetition, is what separates students who do math from students who think mathematically. Brain Power is most proud of the fact that students who participate in their program genuinely enjoy it and develop a passion for thinking mathematically, even if they ultimately work outside the field.
Language Arts
Bright students are often full of ideas and chronically under-equipped to express them. Brain Power's Language Arts program is built around three interconnected domains: writing as a way to think, literature as a way to understand the world, and vocabulary and grammar as tools for expressing ideas with precision, nuance, and critical reading ability. Brain Power is the only enrichment program in the world to effectively integrate these three domains, merging them through proprietary group and individual activities that challenge students to move fluidly between ideas, texts, and language in the same class.
Public Speaking
The ability to stand up, think on your feet, and make a room listen is a skill almost no enrichment program teaches directly. Brain Power does. Across leveled classes from the early grades through high school, students learn to organize ideas under pressure, respond to counterarguments, and present with genuine confidence. These are skills universities and employers name repeatedly as differentiators, and they are almost entirely absent from standard enrichment offerings.
What Makes Brain Power Different
Brain Power's curriculum is calibrated to the highest cognitive domains: creating, evaluating, and analyzing, not recalling or repeating. High-potential students are accelerated at a pace that keeps them genuinely challenged, surrounded by like-minded peers in an environment designed to be intellectually stimulating rather than merely busy.
Brain Power's faculty are not just credentialed. They are active researchers, published academics, and specialists in their fields, equipped to model intellectual curiosity and guide students in their broader educational journeys. Mentorship at Brain Power extends well beyond the classroom.
Every Brain Power student receives targeted, specific feedback in each lesson and is expected to act on it. The program trains students to treat effort and revision as the mechanism of growth, building the growth mindset that research consistently links to long-term academic success.
